Overview
What is bulk SMS?
Bulk SMS (also called bulk text messaging or SMS marketing) is a way to send the same or a personalised text message to a large list of mobile numbers at once. Instead of typing messages one by one, you upload your contacts, write the message and let the platform deliver it through licensed telecom operators.
Short answer: Bulk SMS sends one message to many phone numbers at once. In India, a business needs a registered sender ID (header) and approved message templates under the DLT framework before its messages can be delivered.
Why businesses still use SMS
SMS works on every mobile phone. It needs no app, no data connection and no login, and people tend to open it quickly. That is why banks, online stores, schools, clinics and delivery companies still rely on it for alerts, one-time passwords and offers.
Panel or API
You can send from a web panel: upload an Excel or CSV list, write the message, schedule it and watch the report. Or connect your own software through an API, so that OTPs and order alerts go out automatically the moment something happens in your system.
Choose the right type
Promotional, transactional and OTP SMS
Every SMS you send belongs to one category. The category decides who you can message, when, and what the template can say. Pick the one that matches your message.
Promotional SMS
Offers, sales and announcements to customers who have not blocked marketing messages. Sent within the allowed calling hours.Transactional SMS
Order, payment, delivery and booking updates triggered by what the customer did. Delivered to DND numbers too.OTP SMS
One-time passwords for login, sign-up and payment verification, sent the moment they are requested. At a glance
Promotional, transactional and OTP SMS compared
Use this table to decide which type fits your message.
| Type | Used for | Reaches DND numbers? | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Promotional SMS | Offers, sales and announcements | No | "20% off this weekend. Shop now." |
| Transactional SMS | Updates about a customer's own action | Yes | "Your order is out for delivery." |
| OTP SMS | Login, sign-up and payment codes | Yes | "123456 is your login code." |
DND means the number is on the national Do Not Disturb register. Rules can change, so we confirm the current requirements with you before your first campaign.

The rules every sender in India must follow
Telecom regulation decides whether your SMS reaches the phone. We build these steps into your setup so you do not have to chase them.
-
DLT entity registration: Your business is registered with a telecom operator on the DLT platform and receives a principal entity ID.
-
Registered sender ID: The name that appears as the sender is approved in advance for the category you use.
-
Approved templates: Each message follows a template approved for you, with variables for the parts that change, such as a name or an amount.
-
Consent and DND: Promotional messages go only to people who have not opted out of marketing, and to those who gave consent. Transactional and OTP messages follow their own rules.
-
Sending hours: Promotional messages can be sent only within the permitted hours of the day. Transactional and OTP messages are not limited in the same way.
-
Registered links and numbers: Web links and callback numbers used in a template need to be registered first, otherwise the message can be blocked.

Cannot find your question? Call or WhatsApp us and we will answer in plain words.
A bulk SMS service lets a business send text messages to many mobile numbers at once from a web panel or an API. It is used for offers, alerts, reminders and one-time passwords.
DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) is the system Indian telecom operators use to register senders and message templates. Yes, you need it: messages from unregistered senders are blocked. Our DLT registration guide explains each step.
Promotional SMS carries offers and marketing and goes to people who have not opted out. Transactional SMS confirms an action the customer took, such as an order. OTP SMS carries a one-time code for login or payment. Each has its own sender ID type and templates.
Transactional and OTP messages can be delivered to DND numbers. Promotional messages cannot, unless the customer has given consent that is recorded under DLT.
A sender ID, also called a header, is the short name that shows as the sender on the recipient's phone, for example your brand name. It is registered and approved before you can use it.
A standard SMS holds 160 characters. Longer messages are split and joined on the phone, and each part counts as one SMS. Messages in Hindi, Marathi or other Indian languages use Unicode, which holds fewer characters per SMS (70 for a single message).
Yes. Regional-language messages are supported. They count as Unicode SMS, so the length limit per message is shorter.
Most messages reach the phone within seconds. Delivery also depends on the recipient's network and on the phone being switched on and in coverage. Your report shows the final status for each number.
Yes. We provide an API so your software can send OTPs, order updates and alerts automatically. Our team helps your developers get connected.
Yes. A shop, clinic or coaching class can use bulk SMS as easily as a large company. Plans are quoted by volume, so you pay for what you need.
Pricing depends on the SMS type and how many messages you send. Send us your requirement and our team will reply with a quote.
