WhatsApp utility messages for orders, payments and bookings
Utility messages are the updates a customer expects after they act: an order confirmation, a payment receipt, a delivery status or an appointment reminder. Sent on WhatsApp through the Business API, they are read quickly, can carry buttons and tracking links, and cost nothing to install for the customer. SMSNiti connects your system, registers your templates and supports you after launch.
Utility messages are not for promotion. Send offers as marketing messages.

Overview
What are WhatsApp utility messages?
A utility message is a business-started WhatsApp message that follows a customer's action or an existing transaction. It gives information the customer needs, such as "Your order has shipped" or "Your appointment is tomorrow at 11". WhatsApp treats these as their own category, with their own approved templates.
Short answer: WhatsApp utility messages are transactional updates, such as order, payment, delivery and appointment messages, sent with approved templates to customers who opted in. They must not contain promotion.
Utility versus marketing and authentication
WhatsApp has three template categories. Marketing messages promote, utility messages update, and authentication messages carry one-time codes. If a template mixes a promotion into a utility message, WhatsApp may re-classify or reject it.
Why use WhatsApp for updates
Customers read WhatsApp more reliably than email, and a message can include buttons such as "Track order", an invoice PDF or a map. They can also reply in the same chat, so a delivery question becomes a conversation instead of a call.
